BRIEF

SUMO Project + Ken Greenberg Consulting

SUMO Project worked with Ken Greenberg Consulting to re-develop 60 Acres of industrial lands located at the intersection of Highway 401 and 400 (Jane St. and Wilson Ave. intersection)

An opportunity to create a true live-work-shop-play community within Toronto’s strong tradition of inclusiveness in vibrant mixed used neighbourhoods

The idea was to envision a better and more sustainable future for the industrial lands,  assessing the possibility of transforming them into a mixed use area, with a real mix of land uses, building types and tenures, Live-Work units at street level, ‘Complete Streets’ throughout, as well as, a series of sustainable features such as noise mitigation berms & vegetation, storm water collection systems, a series of connecting parks and open spaces,  etc.

Three options were proposed and two were developed; complete with statistics. They presented different scenarios, configurations, densities and uses.
